Football coaching is where it all starts in this area. The BAC has several rules and regulations that govern our coaches.

Football Coaches

Requirements

All coaches must be approved by the Board of Directors to ensure competent coaching at all levels and the coaches are required to have a State Police background check. All coaches must attend at least one clinic per year. Each team will have one head coach (over 21 years of age) who will assign assistant coaches to specific aspects of the game. At least two assistant coaches are required per team.

In order to have a cohesive coaching staff, all coaches are required to be at practice sessions the majority of the time. Head coaches must attend five mandatory Board meetings during July, August, September, October, and November. Assistant coaches must attend any 3 of the above.

Responsibilities

Coaches must see that the players are properly conditioned before any contact begins. 10 hours of conditioning is mandatory before contact begins.

The basic fundamentals of football must be taught and stressed throughout the entire season. Daily practices must be planned prior to the beginning of the week. In order to have an effective team, discipline must be heavily stressed.

Coaches will not be allowed to smoke while on the field with the players, during practices or games.

Conduct

At all times, coaches must ensure their behavior sets a good example for the players in their charge. Coaches must not criticize their players in front of spectators. Coaches must accept the decisions of the officials on the field as being fair, and called to the best of their ability. Coaches must not criticize an opposing team or its coaches. Coaches must not allow a player to re-enter a game after the player is badly injured.

Any violation of these rules will result in disciplinary action or dismissal by action of the Board of Directors.

Team Managers

The Team Manager is responsible for delegating their Parents/Guardians (Parents Auxiliary members) to assigned duties ensuring all requirements are met for the participation of their team in our program; the collection of funds and required documents (birth certificates); and being the communication liaison between football teams and cheer squads.

Team Managers do not perform any coaching, but they must abide by the code indicated under the coaching section.

The Team Manager must ensure that all parents have both the Head Coach's and Team Manager's phone numbers by the commencement of the practice season.

Team Parents

The Team Parent assists their respective Team Manager with their duties. The Team Parent's primary duty is to publish a "treat schedule" for their respective team. It is recommended that there be a half time treat schedule with juice or fruit being provided to the players and an end of game treat schedule that provides the players with a light meal.

Other Staff

Other staff positions are also needed. They are statisticians, chain gang, videographer, field announcing, scoreboard, team photographer, field manager, and field setup and teardown. Please contact the Team Manager or Head Coach if you wish to volunteer for one of these.
